Tours We Actually Recommend
Out of the 30+ countries we’ve visited, we’ve done a lot of tours. This isn’t every tour we’ve ever booked — just the ones we would genuinely recommend to friends and family.
Unfortunately, we didn’t do any vlogging when we travelled around Europe, so you’ll just have to trust us on those ones. For many of our Asia tours though, we’ve linked our videos so you can see exactly what the experience was like before booking.
Some of these links may be affiliate links, which means we may earn a small commission if you book through them, at no extra cost to you.

Bosnia & Herzegovina
Mostar Day Tour
Where can we even start with this tour? A mixture of history, architecture and a waterfall for a nice swim, this was a really incredible way to get to know what the city is like and what has shaped it.
It's a great tour for anyone who isn't spending too much time in Bosnia & Herzegovina and wants to learn and see as much as possible in one day.
No long walks involved, so this is a great tour for people of all ages.
Montenegro
Tivat / Kotor Boat Trip
Something we booked as a spur of the moment decision, but we're so glad that we did. Not a party boat, just a nice relaxing day seeing different parts of the coastline and swimming around in the beautiful water.
Our hostel was also offering this tour, but we found it cheaper to book through GetYourGuide.
Malta
Blue Lagoon
The best part of this tour is that it wasn't much of a tour for us. The boat takes you to Crystal Lagoon and Blue Lagoon, and at the first stop you can get off the boat and swim, chill on the land or go for a walk up to Comino Tower.
I would definitely recommend the walk up to the tower. We did this tour in February, so the water was fine for a quick dip but that was it. I can imagine the weather is very hot at other times in the year.
Italy
Florence: Statue of David
The main thing I will say is that you should do a guided tour for this. I think if we hadn't, it would have been a walk in, take a picture and leave situation.
Having someone explain all of the art pieces, how and when they were made, and the reasons behind them made it so much more enjoyable.
Rome: Colosseum and Roman Forum
It's the Colosseum, it's a wonder of the world, you know what you're seeing.
The tour is absolutely fantastic, but a hat, sunscreen and water are a MUST. It's a tiring tour if you're there on a hot day, but it is so worth it.
The age and stories behind the Roman Forum were more amazing than anything I knew about it, and the Colosseum is just something else.
Asia
Borneo
Kinabatangan River
The best activity we've ever done. Three days and two nights on the Kinabatangan River being immersed in the wildlife, while still being kept very comfortable with nice rooms and huge, delicious meals.
The guides were incredibly knowledgeable and genuinely cared about sustainability and animal welfare, which we really appreciated.
Vietnam
Ho Chi Minh City Food Tour
The first time was so nice, we had to do it twice. If you like Vietnamese food, do this tour 100%.
You get a bike and guide for every person, and they take you around to genuine local spots that you wouldn't find otherwise, not places just set up for tours and tourists.
The best part is, if you don't like some food, just tell them and they can adjust the tour. We did it with no seafood dishes and they made that adjustment super easily.
Ninh Binh from Hanoi
Firstly, I would say if you're wanting to go to Ninh Binh, I would do this tour from Hanoi rather than stay there, unless you have a heap of days free and just want a change of scenery.
This tour takes you to all of the major spots in Ninh Binh, including a big bike ride around the ancient capital. The buffet lunch will keep you full, but it's certainly not on the Michelin list.
Ha Long Bay / Lan Ha Bay from Hanoi
I'm sure you've seen lots of people say how "overrated and overcrowded" Ha Long Bay is. This tour is perfect as you get to see Ha Long Bay, but spend most of your time in the much quieter, but very similar, Lan Ha Bay.
Kayaking, swimming, tai chi and fantastic food created an incredible two-day experience with such friendly and caring staff.
